Passage: Matthew 22:23–33
Sermon: There is a Resurrection Matthew 22:23-33
I. A Theological Test
Acts 23:8; 2 Samuel 12:22-23; Matthew 26:39
II. A Question Rooted in Unbelief
Deuteronomy 25:5-6; Genesis 38:1-11
The logic of their question is as follows:
Premise 1: The law commands levirate marriage.
Premise 2: If there is a resurrection, then life after the resurrection must be exactly like life in the here and now regarding family and marriage.
Premise 3: In the given case, resurrection and levirate marriage create a difficult problem.
Therefore, it is best to conclude that there is no resurrection.
III. The Biblical Teaching of the Resurrection
Exodus 3:6; John 14:1-3; John 5:28-29; 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
