Spiritual Understanding

January 16, 2022 Speaker: Philip Gelston Series: Matthew

Passage: Matthew 13:1–17

Sermon:         Spiritual Understanding              Matthew 13:1-17

I. Jesus Taught in Parables  (1-11)

II. The Rich Get Richer and the Poor Get Poorer  (12)

Jeremiah 29:13 You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.

III.  Seeing and Hearing with Spiritual Eyes and Ears  (13-17)

Hebrews 2:8b …Now in putting everything in subjection to him [that is, Jesus], he [that is, God the Father] left nothing outside his [Jesus’] control. At present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him [Jesus]. 9 But we see him [Jesus] who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.

Ephesians 1:15  For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, 16 I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, 18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints…
